For Independence Day, we just kept it simple. We went for a short (7 mile) bike ride in which I aggravated my meniscus tear in my knee (and I really hope I don't need surgery now). Then we did a few things around the house like replace a door knob while Jared was napping. When he woke up, we did some daytime fireworks (snap things, smoke bombs, and these tank things). Jared LOVED the snap things.
After the fireworks we moved our charcoal grill that we got from my parents/brother onto the lawn so we could roast hot dogs. We also had s'mores for dessert.
Most importantly though is what Jared wore. It wasn't patriotic, but it was a pretty awesome shirt. It says, "Who Pooped in the Park?" and shows all the common animal droppings you may find in Idaho State Parks. My sister bought it for him when she worked at Freeman Creek State Park.
