Big Springs Hike and 4th of July

On July 3rd Nate had the day off (he has all Fridays in July off except one!) and we decided to go on a hike.  I had heard that Big Springs hike was easy and shady, so we decided to go.  It started out easy and very pretty.  We were next to a small creek and crossing bridges.  It got steeper the farther we went and the creek disappeared.  It got really steep and Jared was struggling, but we got to a sign that said Big Springs .2 miles (we had been hiking about 2 miles at this point) and so we kept going despite the bugs being really bad.  We got to what looked like there should be lots of water, but it was completely dry and looked like it had been dry for a while, so we kept going.  The trail got thinner and the brush was over our head and crowding us.  The trail split and there were people coming from each direction, and unfortunately, neither of them said there was water in either direction.  Sad...  I guess they dried up.  It was very anti-climatic.  It was a pretty hike though and there was a road we were able to take back which made it more of a loop, so that helped us not feel as sad.

That was our only 4th of July weekend fun activity.  We spent the next two days taking down our fence (more on that later) and doing any re-landscaping that needed to be done.
